It was a break away from home. Drawback was no lift for disabled guests and all hotel rooms were upstairs ,was offered room in annex,

We liked the hotel for its location, friendly staff, superb food and it was so quaint. It did help that the weather was excellent 'for a change' but you just can't beat this part of Scotland. We will be back! Mary & Douglas

Parking and access to the hotel was great. Also the hotel was a ten minute walk to the harbour and loads of shops and an award winning fish and chip shop and only a five minute walk to an inn with excellent food. The breakfast at the hotel was one of the best I've had and the dining room staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel has a lovely garden and nice bar area and the en-suite had a bath which was very welcome.

I found the room very cramped and the reception on the tv was not great. Although the sink and bath were spotless, there was a lot of grime around seals and the corners of the bathroom. We went for a romantic get-away and so the room was not what we had imagined from the images on the web-site but it is only fair to say that if you want somewhere to have a comfortable night's sleep with all the facilities you want and are not looking for luxury, this hotel is great.

Nothing - not being in the hotel was the best bit.

I liked very little of it. I had an overpriced single room which had not seen any refurbishment apart from a bit of paint for years, the woodwork, headboard, wardrobes, tv was all very old. The room had no view, and was right next to a skylight above the boiler room - the noise was intolerable up until around 1am. I had dinner in the hotel on the Sunday evening, I could not get a table in the restaurant because it was full even though I was a resident, but that was ok, I was served in the lounge. I had gigot of lamb which was overcooked, the roasted vegetables were swimming in what was called rosemary and redcurrent juice, so much of it that the mash disintegrated into a runny soup, which was apt as it was served in a soup bowl. I expected much more for the price I paid for the room.

Nothing the hotel was very 'tired' and old fashioned. I would not stay there on any account again

It was a very small room and uncomfortable too.

Whilst there was nothing particularly stood out but to be fair we were really only there to sleep I was happy with the hotel and the friendliness of the staff.See below for my only complaint

Was disappointed that at 8 am in the morning there was no hot water for the shower. The explanation given was that the hotel was at capacity and the boiler could not cope. There had been other similar complaints. This is not a satisfactory answer and this matter should be addressed

    Breakfast full complement of stagg

Rather tired decor - rooms on front therefore noise from car park and early morning departures

Not prepared to single out any one aspect, thought it was a good allround performance

Friendly staff ,efficiency and quick service in restaurant.

Rooms clean but very dated, carpets worn and heating didn't come on till late ,had to ask for heater.

I thought the hotel was a good value for the location. The staff was nice and helpful. The accodations were adaquate. The location is excellent for the town of Anstruther Scotland. I would stay there again.

The hotel is very old which is fine but it is in need for "freshing up". It has the potential to be a very first rate accomodation.
